Hi everyone! I am doing my research on prematurity and the developmental support for those children and their families. I chose this topic because of my own personal experience of being born as a premature child. My mom and dad endured some hardships and emotional pain because of my conditions. My biggest issue was that I could not breathe on my own so my parents had to dish out some serious money to keep me alive. I was on the hospital for 3 months before I could go home with my parents. My mother never said much about developmental support even though I am pretty sure she got a lot from NICU at the hospital. As far as early intervention services, I do not know of that either. I will probably ask her soon enough to see how it helped her cope with my conditions. I want to take a look at other successful programs and interventions for premature children to really see what was done to help these families.
