Getting Ready Establishing Professional Contacts and Expanding Resources

I was not able to contact the early childhood professionals that I chose but I did research the Global Fund for Children and Save the Children. Due to no internet for a couple of days, I was not able to post this on time as well. Save the Children started in the 1930s, they provided clothing, school supplies, and hot lunches to children in Kentucky. The organization spread to five other states and then spread to Europe during WWII providing food, clothes, blankets, and medicine to children in Austria, England, Finland, France, Germany, and Italy. This organization has been going for 85 years. They have been willing to help children who are in very low situations due to natural disasters or war in a country. A woman by the name of Eglantyne Jebb took the stand to protest against blockade of children who were suffering from extreme and life-threatening hardships. For her heroic efforts birthed the Save the Children organization. The many issues that the organization work on are education, emergency response, HIV and AIDS, US Disaster Response, Child protection, and child sponsorship. Carolyn S. Miles is President and Chief Executive Officer for Save the Children, the leading independent organization inspiring breakthroughs in how the world treats children, achieving immediate and lasting change in their lives. The global Save the Children movement currently serves over 125 million children in the US and in 120 countries. Carolyn joined the organization in 1998, was COO from 2004-2011, and became President and CEO in September 2011. During her senior leadership tenure, the organization has more than doubled the number of children it reaches with nutrition, health, education and other programs. Carolyn has focused on hunger, learning outcomes, and preventing child mortality as her signature issues.
At The Global Fund for Children, they have transformed the lives of children on the edges of society such as trafficked children, refugees, child laborers, and help them regain their rights and pursue their dreams. They do all they can to let kids be kids no matter what their circumstances. At The Global Fund for Children, they envision a world where all children grow up to be productive, caring citizens of a global society. The organization work to advance the dignity of children worldwide. To pursue this mission they make small grants to innovative community-based organizations working with many of the world’s most vulnerable children and youth. Since 1997, the organization has reached 9 million children worldwide. The Global Fund for Children partners with grassroots organizations that provide kids with what they need to thrive, even in the most challenging circumstances. Their grantees have the entrepreneurial vision and passion to transform their communities.
